HVAC Technician
GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE
Performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex; repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment. Exercises independent judgment in the routine performance of duties; evaluates projects, identifies and procures necessary materials for task and project completion.
ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Has an understanding of HVAC equipment, V.F.D's, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Chillers and the Energy Management Program.
Has an understanding of boilers and is capable of trouble shooting the steam or hot water heating systems.
Performs corrective and requisitioned repairs of electrical problems, and assist the electrician in trouble shooting problems.
Performs corrective and requisitioned repairs of plumbing problems, and assist other Mech. II's in trouble shooting plumbing problems.
Picks up various supplies, parts, and building materials and delivers to appropriate location as required. Will maintain good paper work, records and documentation.
Checks lighting in and around the building on a regular basis. Replaces bulbs as needed and makes necessary repairs to fixtures and will clean fixtures as needed. Is capable of repairing extension cords and replacing receptacles.
Makes minor repairs on cars, trucks, garden tractors, snow equipment and accessories. Is willing to shovel or plow snow and salt walks when necessary.
OTHER TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Willing to be flexible with work schedule to meet the needs of the department and/or patients.
Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.
Demonstrates service excellence and ACE.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Two years experience as general maintenance person preferred.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to understand, and follow, written and oral instructions.
Works well independently or as a team member
Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Hospital emergency codes.
Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable M.S.D.S. forms.
Successful completion of a ninety (90) day get acquainted period.
